Spring 2026: Pre-Departure Timeline

Please note that these deadlines are strict and that all pre-departure meetings are required. Failure to meet deadlines or attend meetings could compromise your ability to participate in the program. 

This timeline is not exhaustive. Continue to pay close attention to communications from the Study Abroad Office/Office of International Programs and respect campus deadlines.

September 22, 2025Final deadline for all spring 2026 applications
October 1, 2025After reception of your completed program application, you will receive an email indicating that you have been added to the VWPP database. Set up a password associated with your university email address and save it in a secure place. Add the database (https://data.vwpp.org/) to your bookmarks tab!
October 3, 2025VWPP general and academic information session at Vassar with Professor Brancky
October 6, 2025Deadline to complete the “General info” tab and upload the following documents to the “Documents” tab in the VWPP database:
– PDF scan of your passport
Passport-style photo against a white background (in JPEG format)
– JPEG photo or PDF scan of the front and back of your current student ID card (from Vassar or Wesleyan)

Renew your passport at this time if necessary.
Important note: Passports must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen area. Please respect the format required for each document. Other formats will not be accepted and may delay your enrollment. 
October 7, 2025You will receive an email from Ev@lang containing login information to take an online French language exam. The exam will take about 45 minutes. Follow the instructions carefully while completing the exam.
Please keep in mind that you must have an Ev@lang score of B2 to request enrollment at Sorbonne Université or Université Paris Cité. You must have a minimum score of B1 to study at the Sorbonne Nouvelle or l’Université Paris Est Créteil (UPEC).
If you are close to the minimum score for your preferred French university and would like to take the exam a second time, please reach out to director@vwpp.org and explain the situation.
October 8, 2025Campus France meeting at Vassar

October 9, 2025Deadline to commit to the round-trip group flight (refer to communications with Study Abroad Office/Office of International Programs).
Please note that you are responsible for arranging transport to your host family’s home on January 10 between 10 am and 6 pm (VWPP will provide detailed instructions). No arrivals on a different day or outside this window can be accommodated.

October 21, 2025

Academic pre-departure meeting with Professor Thomas Parker (Vassar College), VWPP Director 2025-2056. 11am EDT

Please note that because of deadlines set by our French university partners, this meeting takes place during Vassar and Wesleyan’s fall break. It is essential that all spring VWPP students attend this meeting. 

October 22, 2025

Housing pre-departure meeting with Hannah Gersten, assistant director of VWPP. Please review the VWPP’s housing webpage in advance of the meeting.

October 23, 2025Deadline to complete your French university request in the VWPP database (under the “Univ. reg.” tab): https://data.vwpp.org/. Please familiarize yourself with our partner universities and discuss your choice with your French professor. 

Language requirements:You must have a minimum Ev@lang score of B2 to request enrollment at Sorbonne Université or Université Paris Cité. You must have a minimum score of B1 to study at the Sorbonne Nouvelle or UPEC.

Supporting information: You must provide an academic justification for your choice and specify a primary and secondary academic department (UFR) where you will enroll in courses. Please refer to this spreadsheet (column B) and the university websites below to familiarize yourself with the departments and offerings at each university.

In addition to your primary and secondary UFR, you must include at least three course choices in your request (see our website for courses taken in the past, and the departmental brochures from this fall for ideas). These can be adjusted later, but should reflect your interests and plans for your time abroad.
Without these materials we cannot complete your registration and you will not be eligible to take courses at a French university. 
October 26, 2025Deadline to complete the housing questionnaire in the VWPP database (“Housing” tab).
Starting October 27Individual housing meetings with Hannah Gersten over Zoom.

Late NovemberDescriptions of the writing intensive courses and seminars offered at Reid Hall will be made available on the VWPP website. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the course offerings and to discuss options with advisors if you are seeking major credit for these courses.
TBDDeadline for pre-registering for Reid Hall courses in the database (tab: “Courses”): https://data.vwpp.org/. You must rank all writing intensive courses and seminars in order of preference.
Reid Hall course enrollments will be finalized in January.

1) Deadline to upload a PDF scan of your student visa to the VWPP database.
2) Deadline to send your IBAN and BIC (Wise account in Euros) to info@vwpp.org.
3) Deadline to send your travel itinerary (airline, flight number, arrival time) to info@vwp if you are not on the group flight. Please keep in mind that all students must arrive at their host family’s apartment on January 10 between 10 am and 6 pm.
