Spring 2027: Pre-Departure Timeline

Please note that these deadlines are strict and that all pre-departure meetings are required. Failure to meet deadlines or attend meetings could compromise your ability to participate in the program. This timeline is not exhaustive. Continue to pay close attention to communications from the Study Abroad Office/Office of International Programs and respect campus deadlines. All times are listed in Eastern Time.

September 20, 2026

Final deadline for all Spring 2027 applications

October 6, 2026

After confirming your participation in the program, you will receive an email indicating that you have been added to the VWPP database. This is separate from the Vassar/Wesleyan study abroad portal. Set up a password associated with your university email address and save it in a secure place. Add the database (https://data.vwpp.org/) to your bookmarks tab!

October 7, 2026

You will receive an email from Ev@lang containing login information to take an online French language exam. The exam will take about 45 minutes. Follow the instructions carefully while completing the exam.

Please keep in mind that you must have an Ev@lang score of B2 to request enrollment at Sorbonne Université or Université Paris Cité. You must have a minimum score of B1 to study at the Sorbonne Nouvelle or l’Université Paris Est Créteil (UPEC).

If you are close to the minimum score for your preferred French university and would like to take the exam a second time, please reach out to director@vwpp.org and explain the situation.

The website where you can find information about the language placement test: https://www.france-education-international.fr/evalang/apprendre-evalang

From the website, you can download the app to take practice tests (APPRENDRE: scroll to the bottom of the page « Télécharger l’application » to download the app on Google Play or in the App Store). The more you practice, the better you’ll score on the test.

NB: The app caps the score at B2+ (Cf. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR, A1-C2).

TBD

Deadline to commit to the round-trip group flight (refer to communications with Study Abroad Office/Office of International Programs).

Please note that airport pickup will be arranged for students arriving on the group flight. Students arriving at the same time or earlier than the group flight may also choose to benefit from airport pickup. Students arriving at a different time will be responsible for arranging independent transport to their host family’s home between 10 am and 6 pm.

October 23, 2026

Deadline to complete your French university request in the VWPP database (under the “Univ. reg.” tab): https://data.vwpp.org/. Please familiarize yourself with our partner universities and discuss your choice with your French professor.

Language requirements: You must have a minimum Ev@lang score of B2 to request enrollment at Sorbonne Université or Université Paris Cité. You must have a minimum score of B1 to study at the Sorbonne Nouvelle or UPEC. If you score below B1, you must take all classes in-house, at Reid Hall.

Supporting information: You must provide an academic justification for your choice and specify a primary and secondary academic department (UFR) where you will enroll in courses. Please refer to this spreadsheet (column B) and the university websites below to familiarize yourself with the departments and offerings at each university.

Université Paris Cité

Sorbonne Nouvelle

Université Paris Est Créteil

In addition to your primary and secondary UFR, you must include at least three course choices in your request (see our website for courses taken in the past, and the departmental brochures from this fall for ideas). These can be adjusted later, but should reflect your interests and plans for your time abroad.
